I was able to enjoy four days off, in a row, over Memorial Day weekend. Some friends of ours were in town from Phoenix. There is group of six of us who get together, four of us live in LHC and two who travel from Phoenix.
The couple from Phoenix stayed at Crazy Horse Campground. Now, anyone who lives in Lake Havasu City knows that Crazy Horse goes on lock down during the holiday weekends. There is no way anyone is getting in without a wristband, and the staff at the gate aren’t exactly friendly (and understandably so with what they have to deal with.)
This year, we were lucky enough have wristbands. A token that is like a welcome mat at the dreaded front gate.
Crazy Horse is definitely that, crazy. The featured entertainment at the campground is the boat launch ramp. For one, people are often intoxicated when coming off the lake in evening. And two, some have no business boating period. They just have no skills.
A crowd gathered to watch, cheer, boo, and rate the boaters performances by waving different color flags. Girls would flash their top-side assets to the spectators, some with pasties and some without.
The later it gets, the more wet the ramp gets. A little known fact that ups the stakes of pulling a loaded trailer up the fairly steep grade. This show goes on for literally hours.
Once all the boats are off the water, the campground goes into even more of a party mode. RVs, tents, and campers, and campsites are lit by party lights, campfires, neon lights or Tiki torches. Everybody always seems to be busy going somewhere.
There is no way anyone in that campground gets any sleep. Music and voices have to be heard all night.
Despite an alcohol free-weekend for me, (I had a long ride home from the campground) but did manage to sunburn my back while on the water in our friends’ boat.
Here are a few photos from my Memorial Day weekend stash.

This mama duck and her nine hatchlings were an unlikely sight at Steamboat Cove, which is down river on the Arizona side of Lake Havasu. They don't seem shy of people due to crackers, bread, and potato chips tossed into the water.
